Calor Gas

Here at GB Gases we work closely with Calor Gas to bring our customers a variety of Liquefied Petroleum Gas products.

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a hydrocarbon gas that exists in a liquefied form. LPG is a colourless, low carbon and highly efficient fuel. Supplied in two main forms, propane (C₃H₈) and butane (C₄H₁₀), LPG has a range of uses – from providing fuel for Autogas vehicles, leisure parks, crop-drying, BBQs, heating homes and much more.

LPG boils at a low temperature and to avoid it evaporating due to its low boiling point, it is typically stored in pressurised steel vessels such as gas bottles or bulk LPG tanks.

Propane

Propane (C₃H₈) is a gas but can be liquefied and stored in a propane gas bottle. With a low boiling point of -42°C, propane isn’t affected by cold conditions in the U.K and is therefore ideal for outdoor use.

Thanks to the high octane rating, propane is ideal for heating, as it’s efficient and produces more energy per cubic metre than other forms of fuel. Additionally, propane is a cleaner burner than other fossil fuels, and doesn’t contaminate groundwater or soil.

You can use propane for a whole range of appliances. So whether you’re looking to power your oven, patio heater, BBQ, forklift truck, off-grid central heating or caravan – to name a few – propane is the gas for you.

Butane

Butane (C₄H₁₀), like propane, is a form of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). With its boiling point at -2°C, butane is ideal for fuelling portable gas heaters and indoor use. Under natural atmospheric conditions, butane takes the form of a gas. However, in order to be stored, it needs to be liquefied, which can be achieved under moderate pressure.

Butane gas bottles are ideal for your camping or caravanning trips, or fuelling your portable gas heater for those colder evenings.

BioLPG

It’s renewable. It’s sustainable. It’s made from a blend of waste, residues and sustainably sourced materials, and is a step in the green direction.

BioLPG, a biopropane, is chemically identical to LPG and is compatible with all LPG products, but this gas has a greener twist. This means that BioLPG has absolutely no compromise on performance, so it’s as energy efficient as LPG, whilst supporting us all to achieve a greener tomorrow.
